FA Cup Quarter Final Preview

Spurs and Chelsea aim to reach their second FA cup semi-final in as many years, while League One promotion seekers Wigan hope once more to disrupt the Premier League

Will Grigg was once again able to provide the bit of magic needed to stun the country, and knock back the premier league giants Manchester City. While Wigan celebrated it allowed every remaining team to breathe a sigh of relief as with City gone, it made winning the trophy just that little bit more realistic.

The key talking points surrounding this weekend’s FA cup fixtures include Tottenham and their seemingly uncontrollable knack of panicking on the biggest stages, Chelsea and their desperate need to give their fans something to cheer about, Brighton looking to heap further misery on Man United and Wigan who are looking to extend their formidable cup run by beating their fourth Premier League opposition.

FA Cup Finals - Semi Final Betting Preview

Swansea City vs Tottenham

Once again Spurs were unable to hold on to their 2-0 advantage over Juventus last week in the Champions League and it seems this regular occurrence isn’vt going to stop anytime soon. Swansea on the other hand have managed four wins and two draws in their last eight, showing their incredible change in form since the start of the season. With this in mind and Swansea at home, getting them to win at 6/1 definitely seems worth a punt.

Leicester City vs Chelsea

Chelsea’s dreary season doesn’vt look to be igniting anytime soon with the Blues being off the pace in the Premier league and now out of the Champions League. Furthermore, with Leicester safe in the league it means they can throw everything they have at Chelsea. Taking into account an out of sorts Chelsea side, Leicester to qualify at 23/10 seems a real likely outcome.

Manchester United vs Brighton

United are reeling from being dumped out of the Champions League midweek, though one positive is that players such as Rashford and Lukaku are starting to show their worth once more. Brighton will go into the tie as underdogs, however are no push overs and are capable of grinding out a result. Jose Mourinho will surely demand an improved performance from his United side, so they look good for the win at 1/3.

Wigan Athletic vs Southampton

Without a doubt, Wigan will once again be the talk of the town as they look to, for the fourth time this season, embarrass the Premier League. Southampton on the other hand could help spare the Premier League blushes, but with only one win in their last five it looks like Paul Cook and his ‘on fire’ men have a real chance of reaching the semi-final for the first time since winning the tournament back in 2013. With the Latics currently high in confidence, no team seems to scare them, so getting them to win the tournament at 66/1 could be a very good bet.

All of these semi-final fixtures have the potential to go either way, as each and every team left in the competition have some sort of point to prove. Whether it’s Spurs wanting to end their reputation of being ‘bottle jobs’, newly-appointed Southampton manager Mark Hughes wanting to prove that he is the man for the job or finally Wigan Athletic wanting to prove to the nation that the magic of the FA cup is still well and truly alive.
