Bettys job is to get rid of some of her old ones.
The 40-year-old has taken on a new role as a waitress at a downtown restaurant that is one of many across the country that has made use of the slang term betty.
Bettys, whose real name is Betty Taylor, is also a contestant on the popular television reality show “The Bachelor.”
She says she was not aware of the term until recently, when a friend of hers told her about it.
“They were telling me about a restaurant in New York that had a special spot called the betty spot where you had to call up and ask for your betty to be here,” Betty told the ABC News affiliate.
“I’m not sure how to respond, but I was like, ‘That’s awesome!'”
Betty Taylor said she started hearing the term bettied about six months ago when a bartender at her favorite restaurant told her the new job was to rid the restaurant of all the old betty booths.
“It’s kind of like a lot of things that are on the internet, and you can find them all over the place,” Bett said.
BetTYs job description is to prepare betty burgers for a big event, such as a big birthday party.
Betties boss, Steve P. DeMello, said Betty’s new job will keep her busy and make her money for years to come.
“Betting is a lot like a profession, but in a very different way,” DeMellos said.
“We can be very successful with our betty booth.
And you have to be really careful with the betties name.”
